Harvard School Committee

Harvard's school committee is comprised of five elected members serving three year terms, as well as a member appointed by the Devens Educational Advisory Committee in compliance with our Devens contract. The primary responsibilities of the school committee are to set policies and goals for the district, appoint and evaluate the superintendent, and adopt and oversee Harvard's school budget.

The goal of the school committee is to fulfill the vision of the district to provide an environment where each student is known and respected and where each student's potential is developed. To that end, the school committee works to ensure the allocation of adequate resources and proper management so that the school district continues to reflect the standards and expectations of the Harvard community.

The School Committee is very involved with the success of the SEPAC. They help facilitate the relationships between the SEPAC and school administration, and are also capable of recognizing the SEPAC as being an officially functioning entity.

Harvard Public School District

The Harvard Public Schools community, dedicated to educational excellence, guides all students to realize their highest potential by balancing academic achievement with personal well-being in the pursuit of individual dreams. The students engage in learning how to access and apply knowledge, think critically and creatively, and communicate effectively. They develop the confidence and ability to understand diverse perspectives, collaborate, and contribute to their local, national and global communities.

The SEPAC plays a great role in the success of the schools by advising, advocating, and collaborating with administration on the ways which students with special needs could be better served. The SEPAC gives feedback on procedures, policies and practices that affect families.
